Getting Familiar with the ADT Pulse Portal

Summary Tab:

  • Whether the security panel is armed, disarmed, or sounding an alarm
  • The overall state of devices and what connection path is being used
  • The current status of your devices
  • Device activity that might be considered unusual
  • Recent pictures
  • Recent video clips
  • The schedules set up to run today

History Tab:

Displays the following information for a specific period of time.

Alerts Tab:

Informs you of what is happening at your home while you are away. Program the alerts function to send email and/or text messages whenever you want to know if an event occurred or didn’t at your house. (For instance, an alert that tells you when your children come home from school.) You determine the event, recurrence, and who will receive the alert.

Automations Tab:

This links two ADT devices together to inform you of changes within your home. For example, if you want to know what time your teenager gets home from school, you could program a surveillance camera to take a picture whenever a specific sensor detects an open door. As with your alerts, you can create as many of these automations as you would like.

Schedules Tab:

Use it to manage your home, family, friends, and/or business. Control your devices—thermostats, lights, garage door, cameras, and more—as well as the site itself.

System Tab:

Keeps you updated on all the devices installed on your site, as well as their status.

In Control with a Single Tap

ADT Pulse’s easy-to-use interactive touchscreen lets you manage your security features from the comfort of your home. With it, you’re only a few taps away from status updates, arming and disarming your system, adjusting lighting, viewing live video feed from your security cameras, and more.

ARM:

When your system is disarmed, the ARM button will appear in the bottom right corner; tap it to quickly and easily arm your system.

Emergency:

Use this button to send an immediate alarm to one of ADT’s central monitoring stations indicating a household emergency of a specific type: medical, fire, or police.

Settings:

Use this to set your time, time zone, system sounds, and backgrounds; add or delete users; and set the security password for users.

Cameras:

Displays a list of active cameras in your home; simply click one to view its live video feed.

Lights:

Controls Z-Wave-enabled indoor or outdoor lights.

Nightmode:

Use this to dim your screen when you turn out the lights.

Clock:

Displays the current time.

Traffic:

Using Google Maps, this allows you to check traffic in your area, including live traffic updates. Add multiple destinations, including schools, offices, your home, and so forth.

Weather:

Review current weather conditions and a five-day forecast. Add multiple locations by zip code and check their conditions, too.

News:

Stay on top of the news! This function allows you to check news headlines, pictures, and story snippets in a slideshow format before heading out of the house.

Photos:

Display photos from your Yahoo! flickr account on your touchscreen.

Daily Word:

Learn something new every day: Daily Word displays the Yahoo! Word of the Day with its definition.

What is Z-Wave™ Technology?

The Heart of ADT Pulse

ADT Pulse relies on Z-Wave wireless technology to get your home’s electronics communicating with one another and you by unifying everything into an integrated network. Meaning no cords, no cables, and no complicated circuitry for you.

Depending on your plan, your installation will include several Z-Wave-compatible devices. But you can keep going! More Z-Wave-enabled devices can easily be added to your ADT Pulse network, and even non-Z-Wave-enabled ones can be made compatible by plugging them into the appropriate accessory module.
